Back in April 2012, the British-Irish boyband One Direction are being sued for violating the trademark law by a US punk rock group of the same name. The California based band claimed that they’ve been using the name since 2009 and recorded 2 albums. The US band sued the boy group asking for $1 million (£630,000) and a share of the Syco Music stars’ royalties.
After four months in the court, the British invaders won the legal battle and they can now keep their name One Direction while the US punk group changed their name to Uncharted Shores.
After the global success of their debut album Up All Night which features the songs What Makes You Beautiful and One Thing, the One Direction UK will release their second studio album, Take Me Home, which is scheduled for release in November 2012.
